“We met for a reason”, is an intriguing story of a guy named Karan who met three different women at various phases of his life. It moves with how he went on a roller coaster ride of emotions while dealing with these pretty nymphs and his own idea of life, where relationships are beyond the emotional tie-ups, have zero expectations, and absolutely no commitment.

Karan was fortunate enough to experience the real flavors of love in the form of warm affection, spicy sex, and sour betrayal. His idea of a romantic relationship is something that starts with a friendship, progresses with fingerlicious food at a restaurant, gets intense in a pub, gets sealed with a lip lock, and later dissolves into a one-night stand. However, destiny had a different plan where he ended up falling in love with a girl, whom he thought to be, just another pawn in his journey of self-satisfaction.

Sometimes even a short-lived relationship or an incident creates a huge impact on a person’s mind and may change the direction of his life. Life goes through a drastic change for Karan due to an incident and he realizes the importance of relationships.

Review –

We met for a reason by Subrat Saurabh is a much predictable love story of Karan, a guy in his late twenties. He works for a huge MNC with offices in Stockholm and Mumbai. A new girl, Anika joins his team in Stockholm and he instantly feels attraction towards her. He tries hard to woo her and Anika falls for him. He is enjoying his time with Anika when he receives a promotion and has to join the Mumbai office. To start a fresh life in Mumbai, he breaks off his so-called alliance with Anika.

Life presents him with different ups and downs in Mumbai. He falls in and out of love and it creates havoc in his life. Is he finally able to come out of it? Does he find true love?

To begin my review, I would say the author has rightly named his book ‘We met for a reason’. The title and the story seem to be made for each other. The cover of this book also resonates well with the story.

However, I found the story to be very predictable and monotonous. Karan is a guy in his late twenties and is still not ready for a stable relationship. He seems to be driven by sex and that is all he wants. Casual relationships are his forte. The other characters seem pretty mature for their age.

The language and narration are apt. The twists and turns of this story make it a really good Bollywood-style story. There is love, and hurt, forgiveness and hope. The blurb of this book tells you most things about this story. The pace of the story is slow.

Another most important thing that I would like to mention is the lengthy paragraphs. There were kind of turn off to me. The book presents you with the phrase ‘Sorry! But that’s me!’ at least two times in each chapter. It is really annoying to read that everywhere written in bold, italics format. Also, there have been some sentences that I found to be unnecessarily italicized.

We met for a reason is a good, one-time read. But, it will not give you butterflies in your stomach or make you fall in love with the book.
